Mothers

Mother's Day, such a great way of honoring your Mom's. I would like to talk about some special Mom's in my life. First off I want to talk about my Ma Ma (my mom's mom), she was really more like my Mom than my own was. When I was 17, her and Papa took me in and let me live with them until I got married. I ended up staying with them for 6 months. They were both wonderful to me and I did everything I knew how to make it easy on them. They weren't young anymore and shouldn't have to take care of a teenager again, but they never complained or made me feel unwelcome.

My Ma Ma, was like my best friend, I loved taking her to Little Rock shopping. She always wanted to go to Sears and Montgomery Wards and was forever looking for just the right color blouse or pants. I would finally give up because I could never find that color. We also went to Frankie's Cafeteria for lunch, because that is where her and my Papa always went to eat when he was alive. She was so easy to talk to and she always had a special name she called me that to this day no one else ever calls me "Jodie".

When she moved to Michigan to live with my Aunt Shirley, I was devastated, it took me a long time to get through it. I felt like I lost someone very special to me. We always stayed in contact and she even came home to visit a couple of times each year. I was planning on surprising her on her birthday and showing up in Michigan. Shasta and I were making plans to go when I got a call that she was in the hospital. I flew up there and the next day they took her off the machines, I was holding her hand as she passed on. I felt her squeeze my hand right before her heart stopped. I sometimes wonder if i imagined it, but I know I didn't, her & I had a special bond that I can still feel today. I miss her more than anyone and I would give just about anything to pick up the phone and hear her voice and tell her about my little Kyleigh & Emma, she would have loved them. I love you Ma Ma and I miss you more than words can say.

My daughter Leanne, she is so wonderful and the best Mom to Kyleigh & Emma. She is so gentle and loving to them. She has had to endure a lot these last 2 1/2 years and pretty much handles everything herself, and always does a great job. She has a lot of stress in her life, but you hardly ever see her without a smile on her face. She is a beautiful person inside and out and deserves the very best that life has to offer. I know that God will bless her with so much in her life, just like he has blessed her with two beautiful little girls. I am very proud that she is my daughter and that she is such an awesome Mom.

My Mother in Law Delta, she has been such a special person in my life. She has always been there not only for Wayne & I, but for my three kids and now my grand kids. She is willing to do whatever anyone asks of her. She is such a hard worker and could easily be mistaken for 20 years younger than she is. She is a beautiful lady and I am lucky to have her for my Mother in Law, she has actually become like a second Mom to me over the years and I am so very thankful for her.

There are a few more Mom's that are special to me, but I know this is getting long so I will just mention their names and maybe I will blog about them at another time. My two sister in laws, Linda Lay & Janine Helton, my Aunt Wanda and my friend Kathy. These are also wonderful Mom's and I am blessed that they are in my life.

If your Mom is still alive be sure and let her know how much she means to you. Everyone likes to know they are loved and appreciated. Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Mom's out there. I love you all!
