We spent a lot of our time this past weekend with Leanne & the girls and enjoyed every minute of it. Josh was out of town as usual and so we tried to spend as much time with them as possible. I kept the girls for a while on Saturday morning while Leanne ran into town to get Emma's prescription refilled. Little Emma is sick again, probably has another ear infection & is facing tubes in her left ear, but that didn't completely keep her down she is a little trooper. We took them to the creek that afternoon and let them walk in the water for a little while, poor little Emma wanted to do more but we were afraid to let her get too wet since she already didn't feel good. After the creek we went to the cabin to roast hot dogs & make smores. The girls were so cute, they had never had smores and wasn't too sure about them until we convinced them to take a bite. After the food we took them back to the creek to throw rocks in it and take a good walk (with Kyleigh leading us back to the
cabin).
During this time Wayne & Kyleigh decided they wanted to camp out at the cabin, since it was supposed to rain they made a tent on the front deck of the cabin. I wish I had my camera during that time because the tent was hilarious, but Kyleigh loved it. Everyone went to their houses to get stuff ready to camp out . By the time I got to the cabin it was storming so I went outside to check & make sure Kyleigh wasn't scared & crying. She was zonked out and curled up next to Papaw. Emma was being rocked to sleep by her mommy since she wasn't feeling good, they decided she didn't need to stay outside. Leanne & I watched a movie while it stormed and then went to bed. No one was sleeping good that night except for Kyleigh, about 4:45 I heard the front door opening & closing several times, the next thing I knew Wayne was coming in the bedroom and said that he couldn't handle that hard floor any longer & was freezing. It was pretty funny because Kyleigh still was sound asleep as they carried her to the bed in the living room to sleep by Emma. Leanne ended up on the couch as the girls started fussing about getting too close to each other in the little pull out bed. They don't sleep in the same room normally & didn't like the other one touching them at all. Needless to say none of us really slept at all that night and didn't make it to church Sunday morning.
On Sunday, we all went to the Sonic for lunch and then went to check the cows on Crow Mtn. After getting back home Emma took a nap while Kyleigh came over to spend some one on one time with Memee. I so enjoy having my daughter & her girls living so close to me, we get to see the girls pretty much anytime we want & I am so thankful for that. But even if the girls lived somewhere else I would be driving there several times a month to see them. I don't know how anyone with grandkids can go for very long & not see them especially if they live in the same state. I guess not everyone is like me and feel as though they have to spend that much time with them. I believe everyone should make an effort to spend some quality time with their grandchildren, of course it shouldn't be completely left up to the grandparents to do all the driving, the parents should do their part too, but if they didn't I would drive there even if it was only for a few special hours just to spend time with them. Kids change so much in the first few years of their lives and I don't want to miss out on any of it. I know when Brandon & Bethany have kids, Wayne & I will be on the road to northwest Arkansas a few times each month, especially in the first few years, and I know at times it will be difficult, but well worth it to be able to bond with them like I have with my precious Kyleigh & Emma.
I still miss little PeeWee
